The Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha, Tripura Pradesh, organised a massive torch rally in Agartala in protest against what it described as the creation of lawlessness and disorder. The rally began in front of Children’s Park and passed through several streets of the city, drawing a large number of young men and women.
Minister Tinku Roy, Yuva Morcha state president Arindam Deb, Vicky Prasad and other organisational leaders were at the forefront of the rally. Carrying flaming torches, participants marched through the city as part of the protest programme.
The rally also assumed political significance ahead of the upcoming municipal and urban local body elections. The large turnout of young participants not only highlighted the youth wing’s protest against the alleged disorder but also served as a show of the BJP’s organisational presence and strength ahead of the polls.
