Women’s Groups Protest Against TRLM Official, Demand Transfer and Probe

Karbuk: Members of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and Community Service Provider (CSP) women’s groups staged a protest against Suman Debnath, Community Coordinator (CC) of the Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM), alleging misconduct and inappropriate behaviour. Expressing strong resentment against the official, the protesters locked the main gate of the Karbuk Block Office and demanded his immediate transfer along with an impartial investigation into the allegations.

The protesting women alleged that the official’s alleged misbehaviour over a prolonged period had adversely affected their working environment. They said they had been facing various difficulties for a considerable period and were ultimately compelled to take to the streets in protest. According to them, administrative officials are expected to maintain a cooperative and respectful relationship with members of self-help groups, but such an environment has allegedly been lacking.

During the protest, the women raised slogans and reiterated their demands. They insisted that the allegations against Suman Debnath be investigated impartially and appropriate administrative action be taken. They also demanded his immediate transfer from Karbuk.

The protest has created tension in and around the Karbuk Block Office. Members of the SHG and CSP groups are now awaiting the administration’s response to their allegations and demands.
