Tripura Upajati Ganamukti Parishad Holds Sub-Divisional Convention in Dharmanagar

Dharmanagar,:: The Dharmanagar Sub-Divisional Committee of the Tripura Upajati Ganamukti Parishad organised a sub-divisional convention at the CPI(M) Dharmanagar sub-divisional office on Thursday at 12 noon.

The convention was presided over by Tilak Debbarma and attended by CPI(M) State Secretariat member Rajendra Reang, North Tripura District Secretary Abhijit De and Tripura Upajati Ganamukti Parishad Dharmanagar Sub-Divisional Secretary Prasanna Tripura.

The primary objective of the convention was to hold discussions and exchange views with those who had participated as candidates and proposers in the recently concluded Village Committee elections. Speakers observed that although many of the candidates belonged to CPI(M)-supporting families, several were relatively new to active politics. Despite their electoral defeat, the participants expressed the view that these candidates continued to enjoy the support of ordinary people.

Describing the convention as successful, CPI(M) State Secretariat member Rajendra Reang criticised the political understanding between the ruling BJP and Tipra Motha. He claimed that although the two parties had an alliance at the leadership level, sections of their grassroots leaders, workers and supporters had not accepted the arrangement. According to him, this was evident from the outcome and developments during the recent Village Committee elections.

Reang further alleged that the decision of the BJP and Tipra Motha to field candidates separately in the elections exposed internal differences, organisational disorder and factional conflicts within the two parties. He claimed that the people of Tripura had witnessed these internal political differences during the electoral process.
