Ratan Lal Nath Confident of BJP Sweep in 21 Municipal Bodies, Leads Massive Rally in Mohanpur

Tripura Power, Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare Minister Ratan Lal Nath has expressed strong confidence that the BJP will register a sweeping victory in the upcoming elections to 21 municipal and urban local bodies across the state. He was particularly optimistic about the party's prospects in Mohanpur Municipal Council, where he led a massive rally marking the submission of nomination papers by BJP candidates.

Claiming that the enthusiastic participation of people in the rally reflected growing public support for the BJP, Nath said the response, affection and confidence shown by the people had exceeded his expectations. Taking a dig at the Congress and CPI(M), he challenged their leaders to visit Mohanpur and witness the massive public turnout for themselves. He said the BJP had no objection to other political parties fielding candidates, but they must also be prepared to face the people's verdict. He added that his party welcomed democratic competition and had complete faith in the electorate.

Explaining the BJP's approach to the elections, the Minister said development and public service would remain the party's principal instruments for securing people's confidence. According to him, merely being educated or knowledgeable is not enough to qualify someone for public representation. A prospective people's representative must maintain close ties with society, understand the problems of ordinary citizens and stand beside them during difficult times.

Nath claimed that the BJP had nominated candidates with strong chances of winning, many of whom had been actively involved in social work for years. He said their close association with the people, understanding of local issues and commitment to public service made them suitable representatives.

The Minister also launched a sharp attack on the CPI(M), claiming that the party's support base among ordinary people had declined considerably. He predicted that the Left party could face an even bigger political setback in the coming years, going so far as to suggest that it might be reduced to just one seat in the 2028 Assembly elections. He also urged the Congress and CPI(M) to actively contest the forthcoming municipal elections.

Criticising the previous CPI(M)-led government, Nath alleged that ordinary people had not received the expected support and assistance during difficult times under its rule. In contrast, he claimed that BJP leaders and workers had consistently maintained contact with people, shared their joys and hardships, and extended assistance whenever required.

Concluding his remarks, Nath described the massive turnout at the Mohanpur rally as an indication of the BJP's electoral prospects. He reiterated his confidence that the party would secure a decisive victory in Mohanpur Municipal Council as well as across all 21 municipal and urban local bodies in Tripura.
