Main Suspect in Gold Chain Snatching Case Arrested in Midnight Police Rai

Bishalgarh:: Bishalgarh Police achieved a breakthrough in a gold chain snatching case by arresting the prime accused during a late-night operation in the Kalamchoura police station area. The accused, identified as Kabir Hossain, was arrested at around 2 am on Thursday following a raid near the Putia border.

The incident dates back to September, when a woman's gold chain was snatched from her neck while she was travelling on a moving scooter near the Harishnagar railway bridge under Bishalgarh Police Station. The woman was travelling with her husband to visit a relative in Bishalgarh when two snatchers approached from behind, grabbed her gold chain and fled.

Following the incident, police registered a case and launched an investigation. CCTV footage from the area was also collected to identify the culprits. Earlier, police had arrested one of the alleged snatchers, identified as Badal Hossain, and seized the motorcycle allegedly used in the crime. However, the suspected mastermind, Kabir Hossain, had remained at large.

Acting on the investigation, Bishalgarh Police Station Officer-in-Charge Babul Das led a team that conducted a swift operation near the Putia border, within the jurisdiction of Kalamchoura Police Station, at around 2 am on Thursday. The team successfully apprehended Kabir Hossain.

However, the stolen gold chain is yet to be recovered. Sub-Inspector Partha Pratim Reang said police would seek the accused's remand for interrogation and make efforts to recover the stolen jewellery.
