A huge quantity of firecrackers was recovered after the shutter of a godown was broken open at Rahimpur Market in Boxanagar. The stock is suspected to have been stored for smuggling into Bangladesh. However, neither the police nor the Border Security Force (BSF) has issued any official statement regarding the incident so far.
According to reports, BSF personnel had recently come under attack by alleged smugglers in the Ashabari area of Boxanagar. Following the incident, the Border Security Force has adopted a stricter approach towards illegal activities and smuggling networks in the adjoining border areas. As part of these intensified efforts, a raid was conducted at Rahimpur Market on Friday following a tip-off. During the operation, the shutter of a godown was broken open, leading to the recovery of a huge quantity of firecrackers.
The recovery has raised questions about the ownership of the seized stock and the purpose for which it was stored. There are suspicions that the firecrackers were stockpiled for smuggling across the international border into Bangladesh. However, the quantity seized, ownership of the stock and its suspected links to cross-border smuggling are yet to be officially clarified by the concerned authorities.
