Local residents spotted the body lying near the railway bridge on Sunday morning and informed Belonia police. Acting on the information, personnel from the Belonia Government Railway Police (GRP) station rushed to the spot, recovered the body and sent it to Belonia Hospital for post-mortem examination. The body had decomposed considerably, emitting a foul smell, while several parts were found mutilated.
The identity of the deceased remains unknown. Some local residents believe that the man may have been a vagrant. However, neither his identity nor the exact circumstances surrounding his death have been established.
