BJP Tripura Pradesh president Abhishek Debroy took a swipe at opposition parties over their political positioning ahead of the upcoming elections to the state's 21 urban local bodies, questioning whether they would contest jointly or independently.
He claimed that opposition parties remained confused about their electoral strategy, while the BJP was confident and prepared for the polls. According to him, the party has already finalised its candidate list, which will be announced at the appropriate time.
The BJP leader alleged that opposition parties were repeatedly changing their positions out of fear of defeat. He also claimed that their acceptability among the people had declined. Highlighting the development of urban areas, he sought to underline the achievements of the BJP-led government and compare the present situation with previous periods.
Debroy further informed that the alliance arrangement between the BJP and Tipra Motha had also been finalised. The BJP will file its nomination papers for the Agartala Municipal Corporation on November 6.
According to BJP leaders, the party will contest the elections to all 21 urban local bodies, highlighting the development agenda pursued under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha. The party also expressed confidence about securing a decisive mandate in the upcoming elections.
