BJP Files Nominations in All 25 Dharmanagar Wards; Kajal Das Eyes Opposition-Free Civic Board

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has fielded candidates in all 25 wards of the Dharmanagar Municipal Council ahead of the upcoming civic elections. On Thursday, party leaders and workers assembled at the BJP North District office in Padmapur and took out a colourful rally with all 25 candidates. The procession passed through various roads of Dharmanagar town before reaching the office of Sub-Divisional Magistrate-cum-Returning Officer Debjani Chowdhury, where the candidates submitted their nomination papers one after another.

Those present during the nomination process included BJP North District president Kajal Das, Dharmanagar MLA Jahar Chakraborty, Bagbasa MLA Jadav Lal Nath, BJP North District in-charge Abhijit Deb, Dharmanagar Mandal president Shyamal Nath and Bagbasa Mandal president Bikash Nath, along with other party leaders and workers.

Speaking to the media, Kajal Das expressed confidence that BJP candidates would secure victories by substantial margins, as they had in the previous election. He also voiced the party's expectation of forming an opposition-free Dharmanagar Municipal Council after the upcoming polls.

The BJP's candidate list has drawn attention for including experienced political figures as well as prominent senior citizens. Among the notable candidates is Shashanka Shekhar Das, a retired headmaster of Bir Bikram Institution and an educationist, who has been nominated from Ward No. 9. Political observers believe that fielding a well-known educationist could be part of the party's effort to send a broader message to voters. However, the extent to which this choice influences voter response will become clear only after the election.

With the BJP fielding candidates in all 25 wards and its district president openly expressing hopes of forming a council without opposition, the electoral contest in Dharmanagar is drawing attention across the local political landscape.
