At around 12 noon on Thursday, a colourful procession carrying the party’s nominated candidates started from the BJP’s Dhalai district office. After passing through various parts of the town, the procession reached the Sub-Divisional Magistrate’s office, where all 13 candidates formally submitted their nomination papers for their respective wards in the presence of party leaders.

Minister Bikash Debbarma, MLA Shambhulal Chakma, BJP Dhalai district president Pratiram Tripura and Mandal president Ajay Adhikari were among those present. The 13 nominated candidates, along with party leaders and workers from different organisational levels, also took part in the procession. The presence of senior leaders and supporters added enthusiasm to the nomination-filing programme.

With candidates fielded in 13 of the 15 wards, the BJP has entered the Ambassa civic election contest. However, the party has not fielded candidates in the remaining two wards, and no reason for the decision was provided in the information available.
