In a heartwarming display of compassion, bus workers and owners at Agartala’s Nagerjala bus stand came forward to help a financially struggling student who lost the money she had painstakingly arranged to pay her college semester fees. The student, Mina Jamatia, had reportedly sold ducks and chickens from her family’s home to raise the money needed to continue her education.
According to details of the incident, Mina, a resident of Amarpur and a student from an economically disadvantaged family, was travelling to Agartala to pay her semester fees at Kazi Nazrul Islam College in West Bengal. She was carrying around Rs 15,800, of which Rs 15,500 was meant for her college fees.
During the journey, when the bus conductor asked for the fare near Agartala University, Mina opened her bag and took out money to pay. However, after getting off at Nagerjala bus stand, she discovered that the pouch containing her savings was missing. Realising that she had lost the money collected through considerable personal sacrifice, she broke down in tears.
The loss left Mina deeply distressed, as she was uncertain how she would arrange the money required to pay her college fees. She had even sold ducks and chickens from her home to gather the amount.
She subsequently approached representatives of the workers and owners at Nagerjala bus stand and explained her predicament. Moved by her circumstances, they took the initiative to collect money through their personal contributions and handed it over to her to cover her college examination fees and other essential expenses.
The gesture by the bus workers and owners has drawn appreciation, highlighting how collective compassion and timely assistance can make a meaningful difference in someone's life. Their support has offered Mina a chance to continue pursuing her education despite the setback.
